Birchbox Review - February 2013

This is my last Birchbox from my yearly subscription and I'm kind of pleased.  I loved last month's box but this one didn't WOW me.

It's London Fashion Week theme and includes:

Gerda Spillmann Bio Fond Cream Foundation 4.5g Shade 03 Bijou - in a shade which is way too dark for me - boo! Cute compact though.  Birchbox says "light, creamy base is easy to apply, offers great coverage and sets to a powder finish".  Full size retails at £20.

Korres Guava Shower Gel 50ml - received Korres in Boudoir Prive previously.  A brand I like and this has a nice scent.  Probably my favourite thing in the box.

Nick Chavez Beverley Hills Pump N'Thick Leave-in Thickening Mist 59ml - received a volume boosting mist in last month's box.  A brand I've not tried before so happy to give it a go.

Vichy Thermal Spa Water 50g - have used the Avene version of this which can be used as a toner, to set make-up or to refresh - always handy.

There are two extras included this month:

EBOOST Natural Energy Booster sachet (received this in a Latest in Beauty box)

Eyelash Curler - Birchbox branded and worth £10.

I am disappointed the foundation is too dark and that Korres (much as I love it) has been included in a beauty box...again.

What are your thoughts?

  1. Aww what a shame you were dissapointed with your last box, that foundation is very dark! maybe you could use it as a bronzer/contour in the summer? It's the own brand Birchbox eyelash curlers that would have annoyed me I bet they are really cheaply made. I don't subscribe to any boxes any more, I would rather put my money towards something on my wishlist and that way I will not be dissapointed.

  2. I'm not subscribed but I really don't understand why a foundation was included when everyones skin colour is so different, I'm sure alot of people will be unhappy with that.

    1. I've heard stuff on facebook that most are unhappy with their shade - so difficult to match up with a foundation x

  5. I never understand the foundation inclusion or lipstick unless it is something you have filled a survey in on or have made a suggestion as to what you like/use/are looking for and so on xx

  6. The Korres shower gel would have been my favourite too. I was first introduced to it when they were in the bathroom of a London hotel we stayed in a while ago. They smell gorgeous.

  8. Although I got a different shade foundation to you, mine is wayyy too dark too :( It would have been a brilliant little thing to pop in a handbag too!

Not understanding the foundation inclusion, unless they match you up with a shade before hand!

My Birchbox was tons better than my Glossybox though! x

  9. I like the eyelash curlers, the vichy and the hair product. I got the same shade of foundation as you and think it might be too dark even for my olive complexion! Might try using it as a contour xx
