May: Lately I've Been Loving

Here's what I've been loving in May:

Our first post lockdown lunch at The Lookout by Gardener's Cottage which is perched on Calton Hill. The food and views were quite wonderful. Two other diners randomly paid for our lunch (when they heard us tell the waiter we'd missed birthday and anniversary meals through lockdown) Which was an amazing joy giving surprise. See my instagram post HERE.

It's been nice dipping in and picking up The Perfume Society boxes again. This one is their Launches we Love Discovery Box. It's jam packed. My absolute fav is Loubirouge 4ml EdP by Christian Louboutin which has notes of cardamon, iris and vanilla.

I've been trying A Melt in Time's Luxury Wax Melts*. The clams cost £3.99 each and are hand poured using natural waxes. With a range of popular scents including a perfume inspired range. I found the scents subtle with a gentle throw (I was kindly gifted these for review).

Lots of beach walks in the sunshine, so good for the soul! Looking forward to the better weather arriving next week!

I dipped in for a one off Natural Wellness Box - May's theme is GLOW. I adore Lola's Apothecary and Skin & Tonic (and hadn't tried the products inside the box this month). All in all I'm delighted though I had already tried 2 of the items and brands inside. Look out of individual reviews soon.

Visiting my mum and dad last weekend for lunch was sooo nice! We enjoyed my mum's trifle - one of the best things in life!

I was over the moon and then some to win a copy of Stacey Halls new novel Mrs England over on twitter. My next read!

April: Lately I've Been Loving

Here are my April loves (getting back to the shops yesterday was such a thrill!)

Blossom season brings me so much joy! As well as sunny skies and sunshine.

My first Cult Beauty order since December! I couldn't resist their The Sunshine Edit which is worth over £135 and can be snapped up for £40 (at time of writing it's still available). I'll review the items inside soon.

I've been having a lot of random Naturisimo splurges which bring untold joy. I can never resist a new fushi product (their Bringer of Peace Herbal Body Wash) and Neom's rather wonderful Great Day Magnesium Body Butter. Both are brilliant and reviews to come!

David treated me to a rather amazing Afternoon tea from the Waldorf Astoria with fizz for my birthday which was quite wonderful. It was the Blooms and Flowers edition and totally delicious (the current one running is Edinburgh Zoo and is available until 30 June). A gorgeous treat.

Staying on the birthday theme David gave me a huge surprise pressie. I've always lusted after a Hotel Chocolat The Velvitiser since we gave it to my dad for his 80th and I can confirm it makes the very best Hot Chocolate at Home.

I'd not had a The Perfume Society Discovery Box for ages. I used birthday money to pick up their The Indulgence Discovery Box which contains 14 perfumes of various sizes from vials to mini bottles and a Ruth Mastenbrook mini candle. Such a treat.

Popping to the local shops again - so good (although our great greengrocers, Root Down has been open throughout). In Scotland, the shops opened again on the 26th April. I picked up the Sun Salutation Yogi Tea with Cinnamon, Cardamom & Orange (which is delicious - I might need to go back for more!) and asparagus from Root Down Portobello, stationery items and the free Booktime mag from The Portobello Bookshop (I'm already a huge fan of these particular Rifle Paper Co notebooks) and a little Gisela Graham decorative item from Two Sisters Portobello which is the place to go for large and small gifts.

I'll show you what's in the boxes just now and reviews will follow later:

I noticed that the Scented Skincare set from The Perfume Society and in collaboration with Latest in Beauty had been reduced in price to £11 - I had a voucher code due to a problem with a previous order and couldn't resist picking it up for a bargainous £9.95! Even at £11 it is a real bargain (worth £75) (I think there are just a few remaining now - so if you want one be quick!)

The Perfume Society: The Travel Edition

I ordered The Travel Edition as soon as it was offered to VIP Subscribers and then waited 14 days for it to be delivered! The Perfume Society really need to sort out their courier problems as this is not the first time I've had issues with an order.

As ever the box is fabulous and stuffed full of gorgeous perfumes and other goodies.

This little set surely is the cutest! It contains a mini soap (30g) and perfume spray. Fragonard Pivoine 4ml EdT is from the FLORAL family. With top notes of redcurrant, rhubarb and mock orange, a heart of pink, red & white peony, jasmine and mimosa and a base of musk, powdered iris and amber. It really is a beautiful feminine summer floral.

The next perfume to jump out at me is the quirky Moschino Pink Fresh Couture 5ml EdT mini in the shape of a bottle of flash!  It's from the FLORAL FRUITY WOODY family and has top notes of pink grapefruit, cassis and lily of the valley with a heart of pomegranate, pink jacinth and wild rose and a base of cedarwood, ambrox and musk.

I'm already a huge fan of Etat Libre d'Orange's You or Someone Like You 2ml EdP (having received it my May Bloom Perfumery Sample Pack). It's from the FRESH family and has notes of roses, mint and wild grasses and is a really luscious and mouthwatering scent. Full size is already on my wishlist.

From Atelier Cologne we have Cedrat Enivrant Cologne Absolue 2ml which is also from the FRESH family (and is beautiful). With top notes of cedrat, lime and bergamot, a heart of mint, basil and juniper berries with a base of tonka bean, vetiver and elemi. It's a really beautiful sparking citrus (I also love that the samples come with a pretty postcard).

From Weleda is Onagre 1.5ml eau naturelle which is from the GREEN FLORAL family with top notes of magnolia, a heart of cardamon and a base of sandalwood. This is a really nice spicy scent.

I've tried Annick Goutal's Eau D'Hadrien 1.75ml EdP before and loved it. This perfume is from the FRESH family and is bursting with zingy citrus. It has top notes of Sicilian lemon, bergamot, citron and grapefruit with a heart of cypress, galbanum, basil, juniper berry and ylang ylang with a woods base.

Azzaro Chrome Pure 1.2ml EdT is from the FRESH family and has top notes of bergamot, mandarin and pepperwood with a heart of Akigalawood and orange blossom with a base of tonka bean, cedar and musk. This is a male scent so I'll pass it on!

Issey Miyake's Nuit Bleu Astral 1ml EdT is from the WOODY family and has top notes of lime and coriander with a heart of gentian and leather accord with a base of amber and vetiver. I really like this unisex scent.

Narciso Rodriguez For Her Fleur Musc 1ml EdP from the ORIENTAL family which is a really pretty feminine scent. It has top notes of bergamot, mandarin, tuberose, pimento leaves, ginger, saffron, honey accord and rum with heart notes of orange blossom, orchid rose and heliotrope with a base of myrrh, sandalwood, suede, tobacco and vanilla.

The two extras this month:

30ml Molton Brown Costal Cypress & Sea Fennel Bath & Shower Gel
30ml Philosophy the microdelivey exfoliating face wash

It really is a fabulous box. Pick yours up HERE.

The Perfume Society: Latest Launches

I can never resist a The Perfume Society box and the current one "Latest Launches" is just great. Costing £15, including P&P if you are VIP member and £17.50 plus P&P if you just want a one off box.

Here are the sample vials inside:

Shay & Blue Dandelion Fig 2ml (FRESH) - was one I was keen to try (having loved just about all the perfumes from the brand).  With top notes of dandelion and lemongrass, a heart of tomato vine and juniper and a base of fig. I find it dries down to an earthy fruity note and full size is now firmly on the wishlist. Love this!

Annick Goutal Tenue de Soiree EdP 0.8ml (CHYPRE) - in which the main accord revolves around iris with patchouli. It's not too powdery and I kind of like it.

Parfums de Marly Delina EdP 1.2ml (FLORAL) - which has top notes of bergamot, lychee accord, rhubarb accord and nutmeg with a heart of Turkish rose, petalia, vanilla and musk. With base notes of Hatian Orpur vetiver, cedar, frankincense and cashmeran.

Yardley London Royal Pink Diamond EdT 1ml (FLORAL) - this is also one of my favourites. It has top notes of mandarin, pear, peach and cassis with a heart of pink pepper, peony, rose and orange flower water with base notes of sandalwood, cedarwood and musk. It's a really pretty floral and one I'd buy full size. It's made with 90% naturally derived ingredients with a vegetable derived alcohol base.

MontBlanc Lady Emblem Elixir EdP 2ml (FLORAL) - with top notes of litchi and mandarin, a heart of Damask rose absolute, jasmine and orange blossom with base notes of patchouli, sandalwood, black pepper and vanilla.

Abercrombie & Fitch First Instinct for Women EdP 2ml (FLORAL) - which has top notes of magnolia, grapefruit and passionfruit with a heart of orange flower, butterfly orchid and water lily with a base of amber, tonka bean and musk.

I'm looking forward to testing them all out - I do have initial favourites which I loved from first try.

There are 3 larger samples too in the box:

From Miller Harris there is a duo (2 x 7.5ml EdP) which I already love having first tried them via sample vials - Lumiere Doree (CITRUS) which is a delightfully fresh blossomy scent. It has top notes of bergamot, petitgrain and orange with a heart of neroli, and Sambac jasmine absolue with base notes of cashmere woods, vetiver, amber and white musk.

The second (also much loved) perfume in the duo is Etui Noir (LEATHER) which has top notes of bergamot, tangerine and elemi gum with a heart of Moroccan iris butter, incense and cashmere woods with base notes of Indonesian patchouli, Haitian vetiver, leather, amber, birch and labdanum. Really pleased that these two are included in the box (and nice to now have them in my collection.)

Also in the box is a 10ml perfume from E Coudray which hasn't yet launched. Rose Tubereuse (FLORIENTAL) which has top notes of bergamot, tangerine, clove, guava and rhubarb. With a heart of rose, tuberose, ylang ylang, geranium, jasmine and orange blossom and base notes of patchouli, sandalwood, tonka, vanilla, benzoin and musk. I do find this a bit heady and powdery for my liking but I'll make sure to try it a few times before passing it on (I do love their Ambre et Vanilla).

The extras:

10ml Weleda Lavender Body Oil and a scented sachet from The Very Nature which can be used in the car or wardrobe.

Did you pick up a box? What are your thoughts on the contents?

March Empties

Here's what I've been using up in March (a sunny photo for a change!):

John Masters Organics Rose & Apricot Hair Milk 30ml - this is a staple in my stash and I've just opened another one. See my review HERE.

Pureology Hydrate Conditioner 50ml - lovely to use, loved its minty scent and how soft and moisturised it left my hair. Sure to buy full size at some point.

Dr Bronner's Peppermint 18-in-1 Pure Castle Soap 237ml - love this and it's always in my stash to clean my make up brushes and sometimes the bath! You can even clean your teeth with it (in an emergency). I actually need to stock up on this.

Dr Organic Rose Otto Bath Oil 100ml - this is my dupe for REN's bath oil. Maybe not quite as luxurious but brilliant value for money and rather lovely. Just opened a new one.

REN Moroccan Rose Gold Glow Perfect Dry Oil 100ml* - an absolutely beautiful lightly scented rose oil which moisturises and leaves the skin looking glowy. I'll definitely pick another up again soon. See my review HERE.

Molton Brown Frankincense & Allspice Hand Wash 300ml - I adore this spicy scented handwash. I have a huge stash of these - gifted, bought in the sales and from Latest in Beauty (and hopefully enough to last all year as it's only available at Christmas time) See my review HERE.

Olverum Bath Oil 15ml - is a favourite for a deeply relaxing soak. See my review HERE. I recently bought a mini trio and I am now happy to find them as a Latest in Beauty pick.

Weleda Pomegranate Regenerating Body Oil 10ml - a lovely body oil which I'd used before and now after trying it again will buy.

Organic Surge 2 Minute Moisture Mask 150ml - a beautiful, rich (bakewell tart scented) mask which left the hair looking glossy and healthy. Really impressed with this product and will definitely buy again.

Flower by Kenzo EdP sample vial - this came in Perfume Society's Modern Classics Box (REVIEW). I found I loved that I loved it after thinking I hated it for years! It has notes of Bulgarian Rose, Parma Violet, Vanilla and Musk and is lush. Full size is now on the wishlist!

Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax Bath & Shower Oil 3ml - this is one of my favourites. Sure to buy full size at some point.

4160Tuesdays London 1969 EdP 9ml - I actually finished two perfumes this month which is pretty much unheard of! I've already re-purchased this. See my thoughts on it HERE.

Weleda Lavender Creamy Body Wash 20ml - a lightly lavender scented wash which I'd maybe buy full size.

Make Up Forever High Definition Powder 1g - I really enjoyed using this to set my make up. I have since picked up another mini via Love me Beauty and I'd buy full size.

Diptyque Vetyverio EdT 10ml - simply totally fell for this when I friend sent it to me and I've since bought full size. A really beautiful scent with floral notes and vetiver. Slightly woody with rose and floral notes. It's perfection!

AEOS Enriching Spelt Hand Cream 30ml** - which was one of the most luxurious hand creams I've ever used. See my review HERE.

MOA Fortifying Green Bath Potion Single Shot - huge fan of this beautiful bath oil which is perfect when you've got the flu or feeling run down. It's also good to use after exercise as it relieves any aches and pains. See my review HERE. I always have this in my stash.

John Masters Organics 100% Argan Oil sample - this can be used on the face, body and hair. I used it most for smoothing down fly-aways. Would buy full size.

Rosalena Bio-Active Love & Me Face Oil 2ml sample - nice to use but others in the range I prefer. So probably wouldn't buy this one full size. See my review HERE.

What have you been using up this month?

The Perfume Society: Modern Classics Discovery Box

My The Perfume Society VIP subscription kicked in again in January (when you re-subscribe you are given a £10 credit). I hadn't got round to buying a box in January or February but I couldn't resist current box Modern Classics (subscriber price £12.50/non-subscriber £17.50 plus P&P) as I adore Angela Flanders Columbia Rose EdP (having first tried it on a visit to London when we stumbled upon the shop) (with the other two in the trilogy). It's still love (it was the reason I wanted the box) and the trilogy is still on the wishlist!

L'Occitane Terre de Lumiere EdP (5ml) which is a delicious gourmand scent with top notes of bergamot, ambrette seed and pink pepper with a heart of lavender honey and base notes of acacia flower, bitter almond essence, tonka bean and white musk. This is almost edible and I'm looking forward to wearing it.

Illuminum White Gardenia Petals (2ml) which is famed by the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton wearing it on her wedding day. It's a beautiful and heady floral scent with top notes of bergamot and cassis, a heart of jasmine, muguet, white gardenia, ylang ylang with a base of amber and woods. It's a very feminine scent.

I haven't worn Narciso Rodriguez for Her EdP (0.8ml) for years. It used to be a favourite so it'll be nice to revisit. It has top notes of peach and rose, a heart of amber and musk with base notes of sandalwood and patchouli.

I was surprised to learn that Marc Jacob's Daisy EdT (1.2ml) is 10 years old this year! Doesn't time fly.  It has top notes of stawberry and violet leaves, with a heart of violet petals and jasmine bouquet with a base of musk and vanilla infusion.

Cartier's Basier Fou EdP (1.5ml) translates to "crazy kiss" and is a soliflore; a fragrance created to evoke a single note - in this case the exotic orchid. It has quite a tropical scent, with powdery and white chocolate notes.

Yardley London English Freesia EdT (1ml) is a gentle but pretty floral. With top notes of bergamot, lemon, mandarin, freesia, cypress and lavender with a base of sandalwood, musk, olibanum and amber crystals.

Flower by Kenzo EdP (1ml) I've never really been a fan of this one but it's growing on me! With top notes of pink pepper essence and blackcurrant, a heart of Bulgarian rose essence and parma violet and a base of white musk and vanilla.

The extras this month are:

Philosophy Hope Renewed in a Jar Eye 7ml - a decent sized tube of eye cream which is "a beauty classic in it's own right".

A voucher code for £10 off when you purchase any full size fragrance at L'OCCITANE (valid until 31 May 2017).

Minnie's Literally Love It Shimmering Body Lotion sachet which I'll pass onto someone who will love this!

I'm absolutely delighted with the contents of the box. Did you pick one up or will you?
