Lancome: Idôle EdP

I'd been chatting to the Lancome counter manager, Angela in Jenners (she's been on their Lancome counter for years!) She told me she's 71 in January but just doesn't want to retire! She looks great and definitely not her age at all. She sort of talked me into picking up Lancome's newest perfume which was I must say, a totally random and splurgy purchase (there was a wee gift with purchase on which contains generous trial sizes of Advanced Genifique (7ml), La Vie Est Belle EdP (4ml) and Hypnose Noir Hypnotic Mascara (2ml).

The new perfume Idôle EdP had been on my radar (that bottle!) as it contains notes I love. I also love that all bottles in the range (from 25ml) will be refillable. More brands should definitely offer it. I used to be an Angel fan and they were I think, the first brand to offer this service. I picked the smallest size which costs £48. (Also available is 50ml - £75 and 75ml - £85).

Idôle was created by three female perfumers and is a blend of sustainably sourced rose accord, oil of jasmine absolutes with a clean chypre accord. For me it's beautifully floral with a touch of freshness and I absolutely love this truly feminine scent.

If you are thinking of Christmas there are two Limited Edition sets available at £75 and £85 (50ml and 75ml) with a 10ml rollerball. The larger perfume set also includes a case for carrying the bottle around.

What are your favourite Lancome perfumes?

Feel Unique - Pick 'n' Mix Sample Selection

I do love Feel Unique's pick 'n' mix sample service. You pay £3.95 and select 5 samples from a vast selection. After you've paid Feel Unique send you the £3.95 as a voucher code to spend on something on the site - so effectively you are getting your samples for free! Pick yours up HERE.

I'd been wanting to try Hermes's new EdP Terre d'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver 2ml which is absolutely gorgeous. Full size is now on the wishlist!

I also chose 2ml samples from Miller Harris their Peau Santal EdP (lush woods) and Powdered Veil (amber resins) which are gorgeous.

I've tried Sisley's Hair Rituel Revitalizing Smoothing Shampoo 8ml before which my hair just loved.

My final pick is Lancome's Teint Idole Ultra 24hr Foundation in 03 Beige Diaphane 5ml which is almost exactly the perfect shade (I like these small samples for nights out or weekend's away).

Have you picked up a pick 'n' mix selection lately?

July Empties

I'm not going to use anything else up - so here's what I've used this month:

Lancome Nutrix Royal Mains Hand Cream 100ml - simply adore this mega rich hand cream.  I always seem to have one on the go. I tend to pick them up when there are GWP deals on.

Mama Mio Skin Tight Toning Serum 30ml - this came in the WIMH trio. I'd say I liked this product the least out the three.  Didn't see any signs of toning although it was nice enough to use.  You may see a difference with a full size product.  I personally Wouldn't buy.

balance Me Skin Bright Hydrating Mist 60ml* - simply love this and I'll be buying it when my stash reduces.  The best toning and refreshing mist I have ever used.

Seascape Island Apothecary Uplift Body Wash* 300ml - an uplifting scent - great for morning showers.  See my review here

Creme de La Mer The Moisturizing Lotion 3ml - simply love this moisturiser and want to buy the full size at some point.  It just works!

Dr Bronner's 18-in-1 Peppermint Castile Soap 59ml - simply love this for cleaning my make up brushes (or the bath).  Peppermint's my favourite scent. Have a couple to use but will stock up when they are finished.

Creme de La Mer The Moisturising Soft Cream 5ml - loved this.  See my mini review here

Jurlique Rose Moisture Plus Moisturising Cleanser 100ml - loved this cleanser. See my review here. I'd maybe buy it again.

Top Sante & Red Magazine Freebies

There are a load of magazine freebies out in August. The ones I've got so far are from magazines I buy on subscription.

Top Sante is giving away a free L'Occitane Shower gel 75ml worth £8.  There is a choice of 4:

Captivant - scented with Bergamot and Mint
Ravissant - scented with Rose, Freesia, Bergamot and Damascena Rose
Eau Universelle - scented with Bergamot and Grapefruit
Eau Spontanee - scented with Bergamot and Pomegranate

I went for the Eau Universelle which is fruity and refreshing.  All you need to do is take the voucher in the magazine to your nearest L'Occitane store.

Red magazine is giving away a travel size pack of REN goodies - 15ml Rosa Centifolia Cleansing Gel, 10ml Vita-Mineral Day Cream and 3ml Frankincense Revitalising Night Cream - a great try me pack or to take on holiday.  There are also a couple of sachets in the mag - Lancome Genifique 1ml and Palmolive Shower Gel 10ml.

Do you think you'll get either of these?

Shopping My Stash #17

Here's what I've been reaching for this week -

The Little Skincare Shop English Rose Floral Water (£8.15 for 60ml) - this is from a lovely new company selling floral waters. The rose one is produced from the steam distillation of hand picked fresh rose petals - it smells divine!  Other scents include lavender, orange, tea tree and chamomile - you can also buy as a mixed pair.  Use to refresh the skin after cleansing.  It only arrived on Monday but already it's become a much loved item in my skincare routine.

Botanicals Hand & Nail Serum 10g - simply love this deeply moisturising fennel scented oil.  See my review here.

Stila One Step Skin Tone Correcting Brightening Serum 30ml - received this in the Selfridges box last summer.  My favourite primer at the moment.

Herbfarmacy Lip Conditioner with Marshmallow & Vanilla - received this in I think an Amarya box.  I have in my back up the one I won in Ana's Giveaway.

MUA Eyeshadow Palette in Heaven & Earth - simply great shades with good pigmentation.

Stila Lip Glaze in Hibiscus - love this shimmery shade.

Lancome mini Juicy Tube - love these for glossy shine.

Acqua di Parma Magnolia Nobile EDP roll on - with notes of bergamot, mandarin, magnolia, lemon, neroli, freesia, lily of the valley, musk, patchouli essence and vanilla - a really lovely floral.

Have you used any of these products?

Spending Ban - Update 7

I was good in week 7 - well apart from buying Marie Claire, Good Housekeeping and Glamour magazine for the freebies!  Still enjoying using my paperblanks* journal to record my spends and wants.

Here are my wants this week - a small (but expensive!) list -

I read in a magazine that Prada were bringing out a new lighter version of Prada Candy - Candy L'Eau EDT - super excited as Prada Candy is one of my all time favourite scents.  It has notes of musk, sweet pea, mandarin and lemon.  Looking forward to going to the counter to try it.

Lancome Genitique Yeux Light Pearl - newest eye cream on the block!  It comes with a massaging applicator.

Finally, a product from a brand which I think are amazing Creme de la Mer.  I've had a sample of this particular moisturising lotion and I loved it.  I can dream!

What products are you wanting this week?  How is your spending ban?

Shopping my Stash - Spending Ban Week 5

These are the products I've been using this week:

Lancome Effet Miracle Bare Skin Perfection Primer 15ml - Porcelain Effect shade 01. A great mattifying primer. I've also been using it alone without foundation while just staying home.  You can see it in my current primers review here.

Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips & Cheeks - in shade 11 Pale Pink. I tend to just use it on my cheeks as I find it a bit drying on my lips.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil - in Demolition - a dark brown shade. It lasts well but not quite as well as YSL Long Lasting Waterproof Eye Pencil.

Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip & Cheek Stain - this came in last February's Joliebox.  A stain which adjusts to your body chemistry.  I tend to use this on lips only.

Estee Lauder Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia EDP 30ml - simply adore this beautiful scent.  You can read my review here.

Murad Body Firming Cream 100ml - this came in February's Beautylishous Bag.  I am enjoying using this orange scented cream.

Pure Papaya Ointment 25g - a lovely rich and natural balm which can be used all over the body.  See my review here.

ClearZal Foot Food Nutritional Cream 100g - one of the best foot creams I've used.  You can see my review here.

MuLondon Organic White Chocolate Truffle Moisturiser 60ml* - A deliciously scented (just like chocolate) moisturiser which is natural, organic, vegan, cruelty free and made without preservatives.  It is packed full of shea butter, jojoba oil, cocoa and pure bourbon vanilla.  It is a highly concentrated product (no water is used in production) and a little goes a long way.  Full review to follow.

Current Hand Creams

These are the hand creams I am currently using (in different locations - work, beside the bed, in my bag and in the living room).  I've definitely got a hand cream addiction!

Lancome Nutrix Royal Mains - Intense Nourishing & Restoring Hand Cream (100ml - £21.50).  This hand cream featured in my May Favourites.  A really gorgeous, rich, beautifully scented hand cream.  I have this beside my bed and use it nightly.  A real luxury product.

NEOM Complete Bliss Hand Cream 50ml - this was a freebie with August's Harpers Bazaar magazine.  The best hand cream I've ever used - and it's nearly finished - sob!  So wish I'd stocked up on a few as it retails at £20 for 75ml.  I may drop some hints to Santa!  I have this beside my chair in the living room.

L'Occitane Mango Flower Hand Cream 30ml - this was one of a few I picked up with Marie Claire magazine - November issue. I've got this one tucked away in my desk drawer.  A huge L'Occitane hand cream fan - it just works!

Scottish Fine Soaps Au Lait Hand Lotion 300ml (£7.95) - I picked this up a while back at House for an Art Lover and featured in my sleep over post.  A lovely light lotion which is enriched with milk, shea & cocoa butter and Vitamin E and it also smells lovely.  I've also got this one in the living room.

Molton Brown Naranji Soothing Hand Lotion SPF 15 75ml (£12). I got this as a Christmas present last year and have been using it on and off throughout the year.  It smells gorgeous and is very moisturising - scented with Orange Blossom, Grapefruit extract and Orange oil.  Its also got SPF.  A really lovely hand cream.  This one lives in the living room too!

Balance Me Super Moisturising Hand Cream (30ml - £6) - this came in the Latest in Beauty Anti-Ageing Box.  This one lives in my desk.  A balm like texture (a bit like Neutrogena but more moisturising) which melts into dry skin.

Cowshed Cow Pat Moisturising Hand Cream (50ml - £8) - I got this as an Easy Living magazine freebie and then in my November Amarya Box.  Super-moisturising with a spicy/fruity scent.  This one lives in my bag.

Do you use any of these hand creams?  What are your favourites?

Current Primers

I think I've got a primer problem! These are my current ones -

Lancome Effet Miracle Bare Skin Perfection Primer - 15ml (£26).  This comes in two shades I've got the 01 - Porcelain Effect (also available in 02 Healthy Glow Effect).  Inspired by Asian BB base formulas this primer illuminates the skin, makes pores less visible, wrinkles and fine lines are smoothed, helps to make skin texture more even, makes shine less visible, flaws are minimised and is quite hydrating.  This is one of my favourite primers and I'd probably purchase it again but it is pricey.

Stila One Step Correct Brightening Serum 30ml (£24) - this came in the Selfridges Beauty Box.  A really nice primer which evens out the skin tone and helps make up last longer.  It's also really hydrating.  I'd re-purchase this one.

BECCA Resurfacing Primer 15ml (40ml - £32) - I got this in a gift set.  This primer is great for unwanted shine in the T-zone.  It also helps with pores.  Fine lines are smoothed and oil absorbing polymers help to minimise shine.  Can use alone or under foundation.  Love this - just perfect for my combination skin type.

Laura Mercier Radiance Primer 15ml (full size - £28) - Again I received this as a gift with purchase.  This primer has a pearl tint which give the skin a soft glow.  Can be worn alone or under foundation.  A radiant dewy finish which minimises imperfections and fine lines.  Suitable for all skin types.

Benefit The POREfessional 22ml (£23.50) - great for minimising pores and I love using this mainly for afternoon shine over nose/cheeks.  It is expensive though (unsure if I'd buy this again full size but I did pick up a few with Glamour a few months back - link).

Benefit That Gal 7.5ml (11ml - £21.50) - another one I picked up with Glamour magazine.  I love the smell of this - its like strawberries!  I liked how this primer brightened my skin but I'd be unlikely to repurchase it due to the price.

bareMinerals Prime Time Foundation Primer (30ml - £19) - I got this in a value try-me set.  A clear primer which is good for enlarged pores, uneven texture, dryness. Gives a good base for adding foundation - feels silky on the skin.  A nice primer.

RMK Make Up Base 15ml (30ml - £28) - this came from May's Joliebox. For normal to dry skin types so not ideal for my combination skin.  A nice product with a dewy finish but it didn't help to make my foundation last so wouldn't purchase.

Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer Dewy Finish 5ml (30ml - £29) - this came in January's Glossybox.  I love this light tinted primer which gives a shine free finish and a radiant glow!  Sometimes wear it on its own too.

Giorgio Armani Fluid Master Primer 5ml (£34 full size) - makes the skin super smooth - a perfect canvas for foundation.  Leaves skin looking fresh.

What's your favourite primer?  Have you used any of these?
