Oleo Bodycare: Replenishing Facial Moisturiser

Award winning Oleo Bodycare products are handmade by Olivia Chapman, a Professional Aromatherapist who is also a massage therapist.  The products are made in her workshop in Dorset in small batches using high quality ingredients.

There are no parabens, synthetic fragrances and colours, mineral oil, SLS and no animal testing. Products are packaged in brown recyclable glass and the brand was launched in Spring 2009.

I was sent their best seller Replenishing Facial Moisturiser (£16.50 for 60g)* and some samples to review.

This cream is super rich and best for dry and mature skin types. I found it a little bit heavy for my skin during the day so have been using it at night.  It is packed full of nourishing plant oils and is heavenly scented with Rose & Neroli essential oils.  It won a Highly Commended for Best Moisturiser Category - The Green Parent in 2011.

Use AM and PM after cleansing and toning - a little goes a long way making this excellent value for money.

I was also sent four generous size samples to try:

Frankincense & Palmarosa Face Mask - this mask is suitable for all skin types and smells gorgeous! It is a Kaolin and Clay based mask which removes impurities and rebalances the skin.  Apply a thin layer to clean dry skin and leave it on for 10 minutes before rinsing. I'd buy this full size.

Gentle Face Wash - this is a mild foaming cleanser which refreshes and cleans the skin. I'm enjoying using it in my morning shower. Scented with lemon and geranium essential oils. Massage onto damp skin before rinsing. Another I'd be happy to buy.

The other two samples I didn't really find worked for my skin/hair:

Gentle Facial Exfoliator - again this smells beautiful. It contains essential oils of lemon, geranium and patchouli with crushed walnut shells in a creamy base. I found this wasn't scrubby enough for my liking although nice enough to use. Apply to damp skin in circular movements. Rinse.

Rosemary & Nettle Shampoo - an award winning shampoo which gently cleanses the hair adding volume and bounce. I found it left my hair feeling heavy, dull and didn't really suit my hair type.

All in all, I am really impressed with what I tried and I definitely want to try some more products from the range. Have you used any Oleo products?

March Books

The Italian Girl by Lucinda Riley - Rosanna Menici is just 11 when she meets and falls in love with Opera singer Robert Rossini.  He hears her sing and encourages her to take lessons. With the help of her brother Luca she does. He supports her every step of the way to becoming a world famous Opera singer. Her path crosses with Robert and they fall into a passionate and obsessive love affair which can only end in tears. I loved the characters, the storylines and reading about Rosanna's success.  A story of love, betrayal, grand passion and self discovery.

His Other Life by Beth Thomas* - Grace and Adam are a normal married young couple or so it seems but he is hiding a secret.  A telephone call to Adam sets off a chain of events Grace could never have imagined. A heartbroken Grace decides she is going to find him and in doing so opens up a Pandora's box of secrets and lies... Perfect book for fans of Jojo Moyes.

The Forgiveness Project by Marina Cantacuzino* - this is an inspiring and unforgettable read.  There is an introductory essay from the author and then personal testimonies from all around the world - from survivors and perpetrators of crime, violence and rape. These are real life stories of ordinary people who are able to forgive and move on and heal. One example, is of a mother who meets her child's killer and is able to forgive.  A thought provoking read.

Hidden by Emma Kavanagh* -  this is a fast paced and gripping novel and I loved it.  A gunman is stalking the wards of a local hospital. Aden McCarthy a Police Firearms Officer is one of a team trying to track the gunman down. He's still troubled by the recent shooting of a youth on his watch.

Imogen, the hospital psychologist and her twin Marra who has secrets of her own care for Marra's daughter who has been admitted to the hospital.

The story opens with a shooting which is very dramatic and not for the faint hearted. Charlie, a local reporter is on the scene. The story is told days before the incident, in the run up to it, on the day and after it and narrated by different characters. Charlie is desperate to find out what happened to her old friend Emily and how her death seems to be linked to the boy in a coma in Ward 12.

As with all good books I decided who the gunman was before changing my mind several times. Recommended.  Also loved Falling by Emma Kavanagh see my review here.

So you've been Publicly Shamed by John Ronson - I found this book a fascinating read enjoying some stories more than others. Ronson speaks to people who have been shamed in the public eye. We see lives that are torn apart and slowly put back together. An interesting read.

The Maestro, The Magistrate & The Mathematician by Tendai Huchu** - the story follows three men from Zimbabwe trying to make new lives in Edinburgh. The Magistrate used to be an important man back home has to come to terms with a different way of life. He enjoys walking and takes himself off on walks around the city listening to music on his walkman.  The Maestro tries to put on a show of confidence and fun in front of others but is depressed and lonely and spends his free time reading books. The Mathematician is carefree and living the student life. The story takes us around Edinburgh which I enjoyed reading about. The men's lives collide. An interesting story with characters who developed while living in a different country. Would recommend. See my review of the Hairdresser of Harare here.

No Place to Die by Clare Donoghue - this is the second book in the DI Lockyer series. See my review of the first book Never Look Back here.  No Place to Die is fast paced and un-put-downable!

DS Jane Bennett is in charge of the murder squad while her boss DI Lockyer is suspended. An ex-colleague goes missing and his wife calls Jane. Blood is found at his home which makes Jane think something serious has happened to him.  A body of a missing young woman is found in a tomb when the police search for him.  This leads the team to question two ex-lovers of the young woman and Jane feels that something isn't right. Another tomb is discovered and the link between cases threatens the collapse of them both. The race is on to find the killer.. A fab read. I also liked finding out more about the main characters. Can't wait for book #3!

Tata Harper Nourishing Oil Cleanser

I've been testing out this wonderful Tata Harper Nourishing Oil Cleanser (£52 - 125ml* which is available to buy from Naturisimo) and is a new launch. I can quite honestly say it is one of the nicest cleansers I've ever used!

The product is packaged in a sturdy box and presented in a glass pump bottle which makes it easy to dispense the exact amount needed. I was also sent a trial size of the Resurfacing Mask which I'll review soon.

The Tata Harper skincare range is created at Tata's 1,200 acre farm in Vermont where they grow as many ingredients as possible, carry out research and development, formulas and all packaging, marketing and distribution is done there. The products are 100% natural, 65% organic and are vegan.  Free from parabens, PEGs, phthalates, artificial perfumes and colours.  Certified organic by EcoCert and no animal testing.

The Nourishing Oil Cleanser can be used as a make-up remover or as a cleanser.  It dissolves make up and impurities and leaves the skin feeling soft, clean and refreshed. It also has a lovely scent (fruity/floral) and is up there in my top 5 cleansers. It is pricey but this bottle would last at least 6 months.

Make up Remover: apply the oil to a cotton pad and wipe over face and eyes. Follow with your cleanser or second cleanse with the oil.

To cleanse: apply the oil to dry skin (1 pump) massaging into the skin to remove make up and impurities. With wet fingers continue to massage until the oil becomes milky. Rinse with a warmed muslin cloth.

Ingredients: Rosa Canina Seed oil*, Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Shea Butter Ethyl Esters, Polyglyceryl-4 Oleate, Prunus armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Olea europea (Olive) Oil*, Argania spinosa (Argan) Kernel oil*, Plukenetia (Sacha Inchi) Volubilis, Jojoba Esters, Camellia Oleifera Seed Oil, Aroma**, Medicago sativa (Alfalfa) Extract*, Arnica montana (Arnica) Leaves and flowers*, Calendula officinalis (Calendula) Flower Extract*, Symphytum officinale (Comfrey) Leaves*, Borago officinalis (Borage) Leaf Extract*, Spiraea Ulmaria (Meadowsweet) flower Extract*, Sambucus Nigra Fruit Extract.

My verdict? I love it and would buy!  What's your favourite Tata Harper product?

What perfumes are you using right now?

Ruth Romano: Lemongrass Dead Sea Bath Soak, Handwash & Lime Lip Balm

Ruth got in touch with me after I posted about her mini Lemongrass soap see here to see if I'd like to try some of her other products.  I've been testing out her Organic Lemongrass Handwash (£8 - 250ml)*Dead Sea Bath Soak - Lemongrass (£8 - 400g)* and her award winning Lime Lip Balm (£3.95 - 15g).

I can honestly say I've been loving using all the products. The handwash and bath soak are truly uplifting and a joy to use as well as being very reasonably priced.

Ruth was diagnosed with breast cancer at 32 with no family history of the disease she began to take a closer look at the products she used and their ingredients. She decided to create her own natural products which are free from palm oil, parabens, artificial perfumes, phthalates, SLS and SLES.

Organic Lemongrass Hand Wash - this wash is truly uplifting and one I'll buy for sure. Very gentle on the hands it is naturally anti-bacterial containing no preservatives or any harsh detergents.  Love!

Dead Sea Bath Soak - Lemongrass - these salts are perfect for relaxing and calming the mind.  Dead Sea salts which are rich in minerals calm and soothe aching muscles and joints. Lemongrass essential oil revitalises both the body and mind.  Sprinkle into warm water, soak and enjoy. Again a keeper!

Lime Lip Balm - this award winning lip balm (Platinum Winner Janey Loves Awards 2014) is stuffed full of Organic Cocoa Butter, Olive Oil, Organic Shea Butter and Lime essential oil.  It nourishes, soothes and scents the lips with a zingy lime flavour.

Have you tried anything from Ruth Romano?

lj's Natural Solutions: Organic Purity Rose Body Oil

I'm a huge fan of Lisa's lovely products and being a lover of rose scents I knew I'd have to try her new Organic Purity Rose Body Oil (£14.95 - 50ml).

This super luxe oil absorbs instantly into the skin leaving it with a gentle rosey scent.  Made with Organic Argan, Rosehip and Avocado oils along with Vitamin E and Rose Essential Oil.

It regenerates, hydrates, heals, has an uplifting scent and feels lovely on the skin. My only negative (and it's small) is that I'd like it to smell a bit stronger of rose (but I know rose oil is super expensive!)

Rub onto the skin after your bath or shower for nourished and happy skin! I'll be buying it again at the end of the month for sure!

lj's Natural Solutions products contain no parabens, petrochemicals, sulphates, artificial colours or fragrances.

Have you tried this body oil? What's your favourite product from the range?

Discover Mauli Gift Set

I've had this gorgeous little gift set (£22) for a few weeks now. It is the perfect way to try the products (you are sure to find a favourite or three!)

Mauli was founded by husband and wife team, Anita & Bittu Kaushal who went on a pilgrimage to India, their homeland after a life changing event. They "re-discovered the healing powers of India's ancient wisdom, traditions and revered beauty rituals".

The products are super luxe, natural, have exquisite scents and are handcrafted in England. The blends are "inspired by the beauty rituals and timeless wisdom of Ayurveda". They honour their son's future and the memory of their daughter Milli's past.  £1 is donated from each purchase to causes which enrich the lives of children.

The range is free from parabens, silicone, mineral oil, sulphates, phthalates, GMO, PEGs, TEA, DEA and synthetic fragrances.

I chose the Discover Mauli Gift Set which contains:

a Mauli with 3 silver bells which is a sacred thread which forms an integral part of any blessing ritual invoking goodwill when tied on the wrist of the recipient.

30g Sacred Himalayan Detox Salts (these are made by Michelle Roques O'Neil) and I'm already a huge fan. The salts come with a cute little spoon.

5ml Sacred Union Scent & Dry Oil - this exquisitely scented oil is just divine! Full size is on the ever expanding wishlist! A blend of skin loving oils and scented with lime, lavender, sweet blood orange, geranium, sandalwood, cedarwood, vanilla, frankincense, patchouli, jasmine sambac and rose otto.

3g Sandalwood, Rose & Saffron Radiant Exfoliator - mix with water or cleanser to exfoliate the skin. It can also be used as a mask. Inspired by the wedding ritual of shedding the old skin and preparing for a new life. This again smells delicious and is one of my favourites.

5ml Grow Strong Hair Oil - this overnight treatment reconstructs, moisturises and protects the hair. Wash out in the morning for super glossy and healthy hair. It can also be left on for a couple of hours before washing.

0.5ml Pure Perfume Oil - this rich blend has notes of citrus, tuberose, jasmine, samba, champa, rose otto, vanilla, sandalwood, frankincense, myrrh and pink lotus. On me I can smell an note of incense. Apply to pulse points on neck and wrists.

1 x Pure Muslin Cloth
