Blog Tour: The Good Friend by Jo Baldwin

Today I'm on the Blog Tour for the fantastic and gripping The Good Friend by Jo Baldwin* (I received a free paperback copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for a review).

If only she knew what sort of friend I really am . . .
Once upon a time, Jenny and Kath were best friends. Or were they?

Their reunion after eight years apart when Jenny pays a visit from Australia where she s settled begins as idyllic. But all too soon, things begin to unravel and once the past is uncovered, there s no going back.
This beautifully written, gripping and unforgettable psychological drama about love, lies and obsession will keep you reading long in to the night.
Keep your friends close, but your best friends closer

My thoughts?

Jenny and Kath were best friends growing up and when Jenny emigrated to Australia with her father, and went onto be an Olympic swimmer they sadly lost touch. Jenny was deeply upset when Kath married Tom, her ex and love of her life with whom she has unfinished business.

Eight years on Jenny goes to visit Kath and Tom in France where they are setting up a hotel with their little daughter, Rosa. Jenny decides to stay to help them as she's hoping to move on from swimming and wants to sort out what she wants without pressure from her dad and boyfriend back home. They fall back into their easy friendship although Jenny feels Kath's moody, prickly, jealous and sometimes sharp with her. It's almost as though Kath hates her...

Seeing Tom again makes Jenny realise she never got over him and she still has feelings for him. She finds out Kath has hidden really important things from her which infuriates her and makes her wonder how her life could have been.

As things spiral out of control you find yourself wondering how this story is going to end... I was on the absolute edge of my seat throughout this tense and twisty story which had me gasping out loud and I'm still thinking about that ending even now! Would highly recommend.
