Travelling Light

I'm just back from an amazing trip to London (a post about what I got up to will follow). Here's the beauty products I took with me & the hotel ones that I acquired!

The Cowshed sachets came from July's Love Lula box and were lovely to use. I've definitely got some favourites - I'll be picking up Grumpy Cow Uplifting Bath & Shower Gel and Wild Cow Invigorating Body Lotion at some point.

I also packed the pai travel kit - see my review here. I'm a huge fan of all three products and I enjoyed using them.

I love the John Masters Organics sachets which you can pick up at a low cost from Naturisimo or free with order from Love Lula (subject to availability).  I also packed a Lavera rose repair shampoo sachet - I'm keen to try this full size. I also popped in JMO citrus & neroli detangler and a sachet of Argan Dew's Replenising Hair Mask.  My final hair item was John Frieda's Flyaway Tamer Smoothing Wand which is fantastic for these pesky flyaway hairs.

Scent wise my beloved kai perfume oil and a sample vial of Jimmy Choo came with me and I couldn't travel without the very fab Schmidt's natural deodorant* - See my review here.

I can't go anywhere without a lip balm. I've been testing Portland Bee Balm* in Oregon Mint flavour which is super moisturising on the lips - a review to follow shortly!

I packed a couple of eye care samples - Oskia's Eye Wonder eye serum and Kahina's Eye Serum. I only used the Oskia one.

Nourish's Illuminating Golden Glow Face Shimmer is one of my most favourite products ever! See my review here. I also tucked in a sachet of Madara's fab Moon Flower Rose Beige Tinting Fluid.

Make up wise my liquids (we only took hand luggage) were Dermalogica primer, Better than Sex mascara, 3 x Bite Beauty Glosses, BareMinerals Bareskin Foundation and Armani concealer.

I always pack Aromatherapy Associates Support Breathe Essence* which is great for destressing and calming - see my review here.

At St James' Court Hotel the plentiful toiletries were by a company I haven't heard of before - Plantation London in Darjeeling scent - an aromatic scent with lemongrass, lemon, nutmeg and tea tree. The products are free from parabens, sulphates and artificial colours.

When we nipped across town to watch the Dolphins v Raiders at Wembley we stayed at the Hilton London Wembley.  The toiletries provided were by Peter Thomas Roth, a brand I've heard of before but haven't tried.

I think in the end I took too much. Are you able to travel light when it comes to beauty products?

September Empties

I think this must be the smallest amount of empties...ever!

Yes to Blueberries Cleansing Facial Wipes - I initially found these very highly perfumed but the scent grew on me. I only occasionally use wipes. I'd buy these or one of the other varieties again.

Pinks Boutique Lemongrass Camellia Moisturiser* - I simply loved this delicious scented moisturiser. It's one I'd consider buying full size.  See my review here.

Redken Nature's Rescue Refreshing Detox Shampoo 200ml - one of my favourite detox shampoos. Sure to buy again.  See my review here.

REN Moroccan Rose Otto Bath Oil 110ml - this is my favourite bath oil ever. I received this personalised bottle last Christmas - sad to finish it!  Will definitely buy again (or drop hints to hubby).

beatitude Peace Body Oil 100ml* - a real luxe body oil. See my review here. I'd like to try this in "Joy" next after really enjoying the bath oil sample.

bodhi & birch Siam Ginger Bath & Shower Therapy 50ml - love this light zesty ginger scent. Full size firmly on the wishlist.  See my review here.

Rosemira Sweet Coconut Body Butter* - this came in August's Petit Vour box and I loved it. Full size on the wishlist! See my review here.

Marble & Milkweed Nourishing Body Oil:Summer 7.4ml - this came in the super cute summer get away kit.  It smelled beautiful and left the body nourished and delicately scented. Loved it!

Dr Organic Pomegranate Deodorant - a staple which I buy again and again.

Aromatherapy Associates Inner Strength Bath & Shower Oil 3ml* - my favourite Aromatherapy Associates Bath Oil.  See my review here.

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer 40ml - one of my favourite pre-shampoo conditioners. Leaves my hair looking like I've just stepped out of the salon!  Will buy again.

beatitude Peace & Joy Bath Oil samples* - these were lovely. I especially liked the sunny scent of Joy.  See my review here.

Bee Yummy Skin Food* - sad to see this finished! See my review here. I've still got a tiny sample to use but would buy.

L'Occitane Relaxing Body Cream 50ml - this was lovely to use just before bed. Would buy full size.  See my review here.

Have you tried any of these?  If you've done an empties post link me up.

Indie Lee Vanilla Citrus Moisturising Oil

Ever since I read Amber's amazing review of this fabulous body oil* I've been wanting to try it and you can now pick it up (and two other scents - Lavender Chamomile & Patchouli Sandalwood) at a beautiful world.  Costing £24 for 4oz.

This is a super-rich moisturising oil with an incredible zesty sweet scent.  It is formulated with Jojoba Oil which is the closest to the skins natural sebum. Apricot Oil soothes and hydrates and essences of Vanilla and Sweet Orange scent.

Apply a few drops to the palm of your hands, rub together and apply to your face, body or to tame flyaways - my favourite kind of product a multi-use one!

The oil is suitable for all skin types. It leaves the skin soft, nourished, glossy and delicately scented.  I just love it. Don't think there has been an Indie Lee product I've not instantly fallen in love with.  I also like the look of the Coconut Citrus Scrub.

Love Me Beauty Box - September

Love Me Beauty have had a total revamp with a brand new website and box*. Instead of three menus to chose from you now receive 6 credits to pick your own products.  First of all you create a beauty profile and products are suggested for you.  But...if there is nothing which takes your fancy you can browse a selection of full sizes and samples.

Full sizes are two credits and samples one.  This means you could get six products in your box each month depending on what you choose. You can also purchase extra products to be included in your box each month if you like!  The subscription box costs £10 plus P&P.

My order came in a drawstring branded "Love Me Beauty" cotton bag which I've earmarked already for cotton wool pads.

Here's what I chose:

Percy & Reed Lovingly Light Foaming Treatment Mask (full size - 150ml - £20)* - this is a mousse hair mask which is great for fine hair types. I'm looking forward to testing it out.  Just simply apply after shampooing from root to tip, leave on 2-5 minutes and rinse.

Malin+Goetz Grapefruit Face Cleanser (sample size - 29ml approx £3)* - huge fan of this fruity cleanser already. See my review here.

Oriflame ecollagen Wrinkle Correcting Eye Cream (full size - 15ml - £16.95)* - I've not tried much from this brand. I love trying new eye creams so expect a review shortly.  A lightweight cream with a rollerball applicator it is enriched with plant stem cell extract to help stimulate collagen product and plump up the area around the eyes.

S5 Renew Serum Fine Lines & Wrinkles (sample size - 10ml - £8.95)* - I've tried other products from the range and loved them. An anti-ageing treatment serum which targets fine lines and wrinkles while plumping the skin.

What do you think of the selection I chose and the new Love Me Beauty Beauty Revolution of selecting your own products each month?

Organic Surge Daily Care Face Wash

Lately I've been using Organic Surge's gorgeous Daily Care Face Wash* (200ml - £5.95) which smells divine! It is scented with Rose Geranium Essential oil (which is one of my favourite oils).

Suitable for all skin types and an absolute steal at only £5.95.  Lather a small amount of face wash in palms and massage onto damp skin making sure to avoid direct contact with the eyes before rinsing.  It dissolves make up and daily grime leaving the skin feeling refreshed, clean and sweetly scented.

The wash is 98.89% natural, animal friendly and suitable for Vegans and Vegetarians.  It contains Organic Aloe Vera to soothe the skin, Natural Geranium Leaf helps to deal with dull and sluggish skin and Natural Glycerin is a natural humectant which helps attract moisture to the skin.

I've been finding that every Organic Surge product I try I love! Have you tried this face wash?  What's your favourite Organic Surge product?

The Beauty Box: LJ's Natural Solutions

I first wrote about LJ's Natural Solutions Beauty Box way back in February.  I finally took the plunge and signed up last week.

Here's how it works: you choose three items and one is half price (the lowest priced one). You also get a free trial size.  You can receive your beauty box in weeks, months or maximum 2 months.

I chose OMG Serum (£15.95 for 30g) a trial size of which also appeared in this month's Souk Souk Beauty Box.  This is a rich and luxurious serum which I've only been testing for a few days.  A full review will follow.

My second item is Double Minty Organic Foot Lotion (£5.95 for 50ml) a lovely moisturising foot lotion with a fresh minty scent.

The third item I chose (the half price one) is The Little Bag of Loveliness (£4.95 for 5 sample sizes). These are great for try me/holidays.  I'll be reviewing them shortly.

My free sample this month is Organic Man Moisturiser (I was initially disappointed with this as I'd have preferred a woman's sample but I'll get hubby to test it out).

Not the cheapest of beauty boxes as my choices work out at £27.35 including P&P.  I've opted for the 2 month subscription offer.

What do you think of the beauty box? What's your favourite LJ's Natural Solutions product?

Trusted Health Products: Beautiful AM Moisturizer & PM Revitalizer

I was recently contacted by Trusted Health Products to see if I'd like to try any of their products. What caught my eye was Beautiful* - a AM moisturizer and a PM Revitalizer.

I just love the personalisation on the bottles - it makes me smile every time I use the products.

The founder of Trusted Health Products Ray Spotts started selling a natural liquid alternative to conventional toothpaste in 2001 and the company was launched in 2002 and the lines now include natural skincare, personal care and supplements.

Beautiful AM Moisturizer* and PM Revitalizer* (both .5oz) can be bought as a one off purchase of $44.94 (approx £27) or you can buy on autoship (pay $29.97 every other month - approx £18).  Each bottle should last two months.

Beautiful AM Moisturizer* is lightweight and easily absorbed. It smells of citrus fruit and is really uplifting.  Apply two to three drops on each cheek and spread over the face and neck in a circular motion.  If you have any excess blot with a tissue.  It contains Almond, Avocado and Olive oils and is scented with Orange and Lemon Essential Oils.  I have found it leaves my skin looking radiant, less dry and smooth.

Beautiful PM Revitalizer* has the same amazing citrus scent.  It is a blend of Almond, Evening Primrose and Apricot Oils.  Apply the same way as the morning blend.  The revitalizer cares for your skin while you sleep.  It helps to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, firm the skin and leave your skin looking healthy.

Both are made with 100% pure botanicals and contain no preservatives, parabens, synthetic fragrances and colours or any additives.

Have you tried either of these products?

The London Tea Company

I recently won a fab giveaway of a selection of delicious teas from The London Tea Company from Helen at Tea in the Tub blog - thanks again!

The teas are Fairtrade certified and the company help to support growers and their surrounding communities by paying them a guaranteed minimum for their crops.  The London Tea Company has been blending, brewing and drinking tea since 2003.

I was sent:

Lemongrass, Ginger & Citrus Fruit Tea (pyramid tea bags) - with Lemongrass, Ginger, Grapefruit, Orange and Lemon.  This is a lovely tea with a fruity and spicy taste.  Infuse for 2-3 minutes in a mug. It can be sweetened with some honey.  Delicious!

Moroccan Mint Tea (pyramid tea bags) - mint tea is one of my favourites. This is a light blend which contains Chinese Fairtrade Green Gunpowder tea and peppermint leaves.  Brew for 2-3 minutes. Can be sweetened to taste.

Peach & Rhubarb Tea (tea bags) - with Hibiscus, Peach and Rhubarb flavours. This is a tangy and slightly sweet tea and one of my favourites!  It can also be served cold as iced tea with mint.

Tropical Green Tea (tea bags) - with Sencha Green leaves with natural fruit flavours and ginger. This is the perfect tea for someone new to green tea.  With a delicate freshness and fruity flavours.

Zingy Lemon & Ginger Tea (tea bags) - with ginger root, lemongrass and lemon. Add a spoonful of honey to your brewed tea for a warming and comforting drink.

Have you tried any teas from The London Tea Company?

Souk Souk September Beauty Box

I picked up my September Souk Souk Beauty Box up at the post office this morning.

I've just signed up to LJ's Natural Solutions Beauty Box so I actually have a full size bottle of OMG Serum which is included in the box this month (6g worth around £3).  It won't go to waste though as I'll pass it onto my friend Magi.

There are two products I've used before from The Earth Works Cosmetics. These are trial sizes of the very gorgeous Coconut & Lime Body Butter (£2) and Grapefruit Facial Exfoliator (£2).  See my review here.

I love Pure Thought's Tangerine & Jojoba Whipped Shea Butter (10g). It was the first product of theirs I tried.  It retails at £2.50.

There is a Hurraw! Lip Balm in Black Cherry Tinted Balm - I've recently collected a few of these via beauty boxes.  This is worth £3.99.

The box bonus is a sachet of Speick Hand Cream (3ml) which is a brand I've never heard of before.

Not the best value or most interesting box (for me at least) but everything will get used!  Did you get this box?  What are your thoughts?

Rosemira Organics

I first came across this gorgeous brand via my August Petit Vour beauty box*. It contained a sample of Sweet Coconut Body Butter a super lush butter made with raw unrefined Coconut oil, Mango butter, Avocado oil and scented with Vanilla Bourbon and Sweet Orange - what's not to love!  Melting on contact with the skin makes it is ideal for massage or as a super luxe body moisturiser.

Rosemira kindly sent me some samples to review and I can honestly say I love them all!

Mira Herman, the founder has a passion for skincare. She has degrees in Chiropractic and Acupuncture as well as certified credentials in Herbal Medicine, Nutrition and Deep Tissue Massage. Rosemira is based in Sonoma County, CA and will ship to the UK!

The products contain no artificial preservatives, additives, parabens, phthalates, artificial fragrances or dyes.  You can read more about Mira here.  I love that you can pick up samples see more info here.  Mira will also recommend products which are suitable to your skin type if you get in touch.

Aloe & Pink Grapefruit Cleanser* ($44 (approx £26) for 120ml, $7 (£4) sample) - a super fruity and uplifting non foaming cleanser which can be used AM and PM.  It is pure and very gentle on the skin. Squeeze a small amount onto wet palms and massage onto the skin before rinsing.  It contains Aloe Vera, Jojoba Oil which is infused with Olive Leaf, Neem and Calendula. Scented with Fig Botanical Fruit Extract and Pink Grapefruit Essential Oil.  It leaves my skin clean, refreshed and feeling great!

Spring Flowers Calming Toner* ($36 (£22) for 50ml, $9 (£5.50) for sample) - a floral hydrosol of Orange Blossom and Lemon Verbena with Linden Blossom and Rose Damascene which calms and refreshes the skin.  Spritz on the skin after cleansing and press gently onto the skin to allow absorption before applying serum or cream.  It can also be used throughout the day to hydrate and refresh.  This smells gorgeous and is really lovely to use.

See Me C Repair Serum* (ranges in size and price from $121 for 30ml (£74) to $8 (£5 sample) - a rich serum which contains Marula and Pomegranate Seed Oils combined with Frankincense and Rose with a citrus scent.  It is fast absorbing and rejuvenates, balances and moisturises the skin. Use alone or under moisturiser.

Divine Honey Rose Replenishing Cream* (again range of sizes $45 for 30ml (£27) and $6 for a sample (£3.60) - I simply love this rich but light rose scented cream. It sure is divine!  The cream hydrates and rejuvenates the skin. Scented with Bulgarian Rose, Neroli and Honey.  Soothing and protecting it leaves the skin feeling soft, smooth and nourished. Love!

Citrus Blossom I-Restore Eye Cream* ($40 for 15ml (£25.50), $6 for a sample (£3.60) - this eye cream contains Chinese Pearl Powder which has been used throughout Asia for thousands of years to help the skin remain youthful. Apply to the eye area AM and PM.  It is really rich and melts to a delicious balm when applied.  It moisturises, brightens and balances.  Again, love this!

So....yes you've guessed it I want all of these full size!  Have you used any Rosemira products?  What are your favourites?

DGJ Organics Hair Juice Clarifying Shampoo & Conditioner

I'd just run out of my usual Redken Nature's Rescue Refreshing Detox Shampoo when I was asked if I'd like to review DGJ Organics Hair Juice Clarifying Shampoo* and Conditioner* (both 250ml & £5.99).

The range was originally developed by celeb hairdresser and colourist, Daniel Galvin Jnr. ten years ago when there were few organic hair care products available.

All products are salon tested and approved by Daniel. The same formulas he created are used today.  Products are just over 70% organic and contain no harsh chemical and little or no foaming ingredients.  Medichem (who make the products now) work in conjunction with The Soil Association.

Hair Juice Clarifying Shampoo and Conditioner smell fantastic. They are scented with Mandarin Essential Oil and Rose Extracts and are perfect for hair which feels greasy, dull and limp.  The shampoo gently cleanses refreshing the hair and removing styling product build up.  Used in conjunction with the conditioner hair is left shiny, healthy and refreshed.

Have you tried any DGJ Organics products before?  I've got my eye on the Hangover Hair range next.

Natural & Organic Make-Up

I've got a huge stash of make up but not much of it is natural and organic.

I know I want to try an ILIA Lipstick and some more from rms beauty.

And onto my (very small) collection...

Madara Moon Flower Rose Beige Tinting Fluid - love to use this at weekends for very light coverage. Love the grassy type scent it has too!

rms beauty "un" cover up and "un" powder - these are both staples I use everyday. Expensive but worth it.

bite beauty deconstructed rose lip glosses - my most favourite lip glosses ever! I love the range of shades which give a glossy pop of colour and they are scented with rose. Love.

Neals Yard Remedies Lip Gloss in Goji Berry - this came as a magazine freebie. Glossy sheer colour which is super moisturising.

Medusa Lipstick in Baroque* - a vegan lipstick in a really pretty shade. This came in February's Vegan Cuts box.

Xenca Perfection Lipstick in Spice* - long lasting moisturising colour - see my review here.

PHB Ethical Beauty Lip Pencil in Nude - this came in April's Souk Souk box and works well with the lipstick above.

Lily Lolo English Rose Lip Gloss*, Miami Taupe Mineral Eyeshadow* (review) and Romantic Rose Lipstick. All really wearable shades.

BWC Natural Mineral Eye Pencil in Brown - my main colour choice for eyeliner.

Modern Minerals Eyeshadow in Vixen* - this is a brown with golden shimmer.

Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip & Cheek Stain in Forever Pink - this is always in my stash as I love its natural shade.

What do you suggest I add to my collection?

Odylique Gift Set

I took advantage of Love Lula's very generous 20% off for Beauty Box subscribers and treated myself to an Odylique Gift Set (Essential Care). I've been keen to try more of their skincare items for a while.  The set comes boxed and tied with an orange ribbon and I think it would make a fab gift.

Love Lula also offer 3 samples per order and I chose a selection from REN.

Nourish Kale Enzymatic Exfoliating Cleanser

Nourish's latest launch Kale Enzymatic Exfoliating Cleanser (50ml - £16.50)* is a multi-use product (the kind which I love).  You can use it as a cleanser - massage over wet skin before rinsing, as a daily mask - smooth over dry skin and leave for two minutes or for a weekly facial - apply as a mask, leave for five minutes or so and then spritz with toner/water which will soften then massage in circular motions before rinsing. I've tried all three ways and find them all effective at leaving the skin radiant and healthy. The exfoliating grains are gentle and the scrub has a floral scent.

It contains Pomegranate enzymes to exfoliate, Organic Kale extract increases suppleness, Probiotics oxygenate the skin and Griffonia extract shields against environmental aggressors.  The exfoliating cleanser is 81% Certified Organic and is suitable for all skin types.

Have you tried this?  What's your favourite Nourish product?
