Creme de la Mer - the moisturising soft cream

I popped back in to see Joanne at the Creme de la Mer counter the other day and she gave me a sample of the new cream that is being launched on 1st September - the moisturising soft cream.  It's a cross between the moisturising gel cream and the original moisturising cream.

It is a light cream which is easily absorbed and I have to say I love it.  It feels fab  on the skin and (unfortunately) it makes my skin look great.  I've set myself a little challenge...

Finish these and then I can buy a Creme de la Mer moisturiser - reckon it will take me quite a while to use these up though...

Mary Elizabeth Camellia & Geranium Gentle Face Scrub

Mary Elizabeth Bodycare got in touch with me to ask if I'd like to sample any of their products.  I chose to try the Camellia & Geranium Gentle Face Scrub*

I was sent a decent sized sample - enough for me to try this for around a week.  It smells gorgeous!  It is a super gentle scrub and leaves my skin super soft and moisturised.

"Rich in Vitamin A this supermoisturising face scrub is so gentle that it can be used everyday to cleanse and brighten the complexion".

Directions - massage onto the face avoiding the eye area, dampen skin and massage again.  Then rinse.  Suitable for all skin types.

The company is run by Cecillia and her daughter Claire.  In 2010, Cecillia had skin cancer.  Treatment was successful but her skin was left red and sore and as an Aromatherapist she made herself a product which soothed her skin.  Shortly afterwards she decided to set up Mary Elizabeth with her daughter.

Packaging is kept simple - there is no excess packaging like boxes for the products and the packaging is recyclable.

No parabens, SLS, Petrochemicals, Artificial Colours or Fragrance.  The company is also against animal testing.

Active Ingredients - Camellia Oil, Avocado Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Exfoliant Cupuacu, Rose Geranium Oil, Lavender Essential Oil, Sorbitol

Full size retails at £12.50 for 50g.

I'll definitely be purchasing the scrub - its fantastic! Have you used any of these products before?

July Empties

That time again - empties! Don't think I've gone through as much as usual this month.

Lush Turkish Delight Rose Scented Body Polish 200g - I bought this with my Christmas gift voucher - smells gorgeous but probably wouldn't repurchase due to the price.

Lush Lemon Flutter 50g - truly multi-purpose product for dry skin areas - love it. Will definitely re-purchase at some point.  I'm now only two pots away from getting my free Fresh Face Mask.

Avene Gentle Purifying Scrub 50ml - I got this in my Beauty Bible testing bundle - and loved it.  I usually prefer more scrubby scrubs but this smelt really nice and was very gentle - I'd consider purchasing it.

L'Occitane Pivoine Floral Hand Cream 30ml - lovely scent but gel like texture - it didn't feel moisturising enough for me.  I prefer the shea butter hand creams.

ila Body Wash with Apricot & Vetivert 50ml - received this in a travel pack.  Was effective but not really keen on the smell.  Love ila face oil for glowing radiance though.

AD Skin Synergy Nourishing Night Treatment 5ml - received this in an Amarya box - absolutely loved it.  Since bought a bigger size.

John Masters Honey & Hibiscus Reconstructing Shampoo & Hair Reconstructor both 10ml sachets - amazing products. Really want to buy the full sizes especially the Hair Reconstructor - it makes hair look so healthy and shiny.

Balance Me Cleanse & Smooth Face Balm 15ml - I adore this product!  Will definitely purchase full size at some point but got a few of these sizes to use up that I bought on ebay.

AD Skin Synergy Radiant Moisturiser 10ml - a rich cream, quite highly scented.  Would maybe purchase in winter time.

Bamford Geranium Bath Oil 30ml - a staple for me.  Will buy full-size at some point as I love this bath oil.

REN Vetivert v7 Hand & Body Lotion 15ml - this was free with Red Magazine.  Quite liked it but probably wouldn't buy.

Rahua Volumising Shampoo & Conditioner sachets - love these, got a few in supply.

Noble Isle Summer Rising Bath & Shower Gel 75ml - I got this from Wendy - still owe her a swap!  Lovely scent and it made great bubbles in the bath.  Will purchase at some point though I've picked a few mini ones up on ebay.

Elemis Exotic Cream Moisturising Mask 15ml - love Elemis masks.  Will probably pick this up as a freebie or in a gift set at some point - smells heavenly and super moisturises the skin.  A real treat.

Melvita Fresh Micellar Water 35ml - love this! Got this in a Latest in Beauty Box.  Got one still to use.

L'Occitane Angelica Exfoliating Gel Sachet - gorgeous!  Got about 3 uses out the sachet.  Currently loving the Angelica range.

Macadamia Deep Repair Masque 30ml sachet - love this, have collected a few in swaps.  Got a couple of uses out of this.  Made hair really soft and smooth (and it has a lovely scent).

Simple Cleansing Wipes - handy when we were getting the bathroom done.  Would buy these again as they were gentle on the skin.  Handy for late nights too.

Batiste Dry Shampoo - Tropical - 30ml - another lifesaver when we were getting the bathroom done.  Loved the scent and have since bought a full size can.

Prada Candy EDP 50ml - received this for Christmas.  Loved it.  Would definitely buy/hope for it to be gifted to me again.  Miss it.

Pure Thoughts Strawberry & Pink Clay Face Mask - single use sachet - reviewed here.  Pure Thoughts Whipped Shea Butter Tangerine & Jojoba sachet - received this as a free sample with order and have since bought the full size - lush!  The Pure Thoughts range is really fab - I'll get round to trying everything no doubt!

Tom Ford Private Blend White Suede EDP 4ml mini - loved this. Full size on my permanent wish list.  Gorgeous.

Bliss Lid+Lash Wash 30ml - got this from an Amitee box.  Loved it.  No sting/haze over eye area.  Have another 30ml size to use.

L'Occitane Angelica Cream 15ml - one of my favourite moisturisers at the moment.  I actually quite like the "green" scent now and love its light texture and feel on the skin.

Creme de la Mer The Moisturising Gel Cream - mini pot - really loved this.  (thinking of doing project 10 pan for moisturisers - though I reckon it would take me a year at least to use up my supply).  You can see my review here.  Absolutely loved this.  Went instore on Thursday to give Joanne an update on my thoughts and she gave me a sample of The Moisturising Soft Cream (launch date 1st September to try).  Its richer than the gel version but lighter than the cream - can't wait to try.  Review will follow.

Freyaluna Rose Lotion - mini sample pot - adore this rich, gorgeous rose scent cream.  Doing project pan to buy it.  You can see this here.

What have you been using up this month?

PG Organics Embrace EDP

I contacted PG Organics via Twitter to ask if I could sample their perfume Embrace.  I was very kindly sent two samples*.

Patricia was looking for a natural and organic perfume for her own use, unable to find one she decided to create her own.  In 2007, she travelled to Grasse to train in Natural Perfumery and thereafter was self-taught.  Embrace EDP was launched in April 2011 and was the fragrance runner up in The Ecologist - Eco Beauty Heroes 2011.  It is certified organic by Ecocert.

Described as "chypre with oriental influence underlined by subtle spice".  Notes include Amber, Musk, Iris, Neroli, Mimosa, Rose and Ylang Ylang.  The scent works with your body chemistry so it will smell differently on all skin.  On mine, it is initially spicy, mellowing into amber notes with end floral notes.  I love it!

Finest organic ingredients are used and are traceable back to their sources.  Packaging is recyclable, bottles are reusable and orders are sent in recycled packaging.

The EDP retails at £58 for 30ml and is available from the website or from these stockists.  I'll be adding it to my wishlist x

New Bathroom

We recently decided to get a new bathroom.  We used Flamingo Bathrooms - after getting two glowing recommendations.  They were fantastic - great showroom, very helpful Directors, Donald and Kevin and a great team working with them.

This is the bathroom before (oh how awful it is!)

After the first day..

And two weeks later..

We absolutely love it and would highly recommend Flamingo Bathrooms.

I also got a nice big cupboard for all my goodies. (hubby gets a small corner)

Project Pan - 6 Body Lotions

I absolutely adore the Freyaluna Rose Lotion I got in my Selection Box.  So I've set myself a challenge....once I finish 6 body moisturising products I've already got in my stash I'm going to buy this gorgeous jar of lotion.

I got a mini size of this in my selection box and I've fallen in love with it! But I've got so much to use up I've set myself the challenge of using up the products below before I buy this beauty.

Clarins Eau Ressourcante Silky Smooth Body Lotion 200ml - just less than half full.

The Body Shop Body Butter Duo 200ml - three quarters full.

Heyland & Whittle Green Tea & Grapefruit Body Lotion 300ml - just about full.

Nivea Firming Body Oil 200ml - just under three quarters full.

Miller Harris Citron Citron Body Lotion 60ml - just about full.

Rituals Mei Dao Organic White Lotus & Yi Yi Ren Body Cream (no size but a travel mini) - used once.

I'll keep you updated as to my progress. I'm hoping I'll be able to get the Rose Lotion after a few months!

Freyaluna Try Me Selection Box

I came across Freyaluna on Twitter.  I decided to purchase a Try Me Selection Box which costs £11.95 plus £2.80 P&P.  I love trying new products and  love try me sizes.  What's included?  You chose 5 products you'd like to try and Sami adds another 3 - so you get 8 mini products to try.  It can be anything which takes your fancy on the website.

Presented in a small gift box - look how cute it is!  It's tied with a lace ribbon. It would also be a fab gift.  Onto the contents...

How gorgeous!

I chose - Regain your Balance Facial Toner, Stop and Smell the Roses Bath & Body Oil, Rose Lotion, Vanilla Lip, Face & Body Butter and Tilly Vanilly Cupcake Bath Melt.  The three products Sami added are - Regain your Balance Facial Moisturiser, Rose & Geranium Soap and Calendula Cream which you can use on your hands. Everything smells amazing and all in scents I love.  I also received a hand written note from Sami - which was a nice touch.  Can't wait to try everything.  Reviews to follow!

What's in my Handbag - Elemental Herbology

I was lucky enough to receive the Elemental Herbology freebie from What's in My Handbag in the post yesterday.

I'd previously tried some samples from Latest in Beauty Little Beauty Box and loved them so was very pleased to receive the Cell Plumping Facial Hydrator SPF8.  It's a decent size too - 15ml and has a lovely rose/geranium scent.  I'm looking forward to testing it out.  Did you receive this?

Haul

After spending the last two weeks in a state of upheaval (getting an amazing new bathroom - post to follow!). I went into town yesterday afternoon for a Giorgio Armani make-over at Harvey Nichols.

A £10 booking fee was charged (redeemable on products), a glass of pink fizz and a goodie bag.  Nice way to spend a Thursday afternoon!  After the make-over I bought Luminous Silk Foundation in shade 4.5 - one of my favourite foundations ever.  In the goodie bag I got - 2ml Eyes to Kill Excess Mascara in Black, 5ml Fluid Master Primer (love this!), Rouge d'Armani Sheers - carded vial with three shades with little brush and 3ml Regenessence Youth Regenerator.

I also got some freebie magazines around town.

I also picked up the InStyle magazine freebies - 2ml Eyes to Kill Excess Mascara in Black (this is going in my upcoming giveaway) and 30ml Shiseido Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam.  Your skin gets "read" by a machine and mine was read as slightly dry - I'm normally combination.  The assistant recommended that I use a serum to counteract this.

Top Sante magazine (August) is offering a free L'Occitane Verbena Shower Gel 75ml (worth £7).  You need to go instore with a voucher in the magazine. The Sales Assistant also gave me two sachets (each 6ml) of a new Limited Edition  product - Verbana Body Ice Gel.  I popped into the new Kiehl's shop and got a couple of 5ml sachet samples of Creme de Corps.

Using the Latest in Beauty L'Occitane offer I got 50ml Angelica Hydration Cream which cost £29 with a free 200ml Angelica Cleansing Gel worth £16.  Absolutely love this range.

Finally, I picked up three Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey, Lovesick and Rendezvous.

Have you picked up any of the offers lately or anything nice?

The new season collections are starting to come arrive instore and I really like this bag, By Malene Birger Evidencia Beach Bag and in the sale I'm loving this dress.  I'd also like a pair of the MiH Bootcut Jeans.

The Victoria Beckham Denim items I love are the Draped crossover vest and the Woolshell shirt.

You can shop instore or online and there is also a Facebook page which can keep you updated as to new arrivals and sales.

Joliebox Review - July

I was really excited to receive my Joliebox this afternoon.  After all the problems last month with delivery they have started using Yodel couriers.

It's a great box!

This month the box is entitled "Summer Essentials".

You will receive an Etat Pur product - Pure Active A22 - Salicylic Acid 300 - which is effective on acne-prone skin or Biomimetic Skincare B09 - Express Purifying Mask - which I received.  This is a full size product and worth £7.50. It is suitable for oily to combination skin and should be used twice a week.  Looking forward to trying this.

Wen by Chaz Dean Sweet Almond & Mint Cleansing Conditioner - this is 60ml and from a brand I've never heard of before.  Joliebox say "bursting with natural herbs and botanicals, this single step cleansing conditioner leaves hair looking and feeling deeply cleansed and nourished at the same time".  Another product I'm looking forward to trying.

Jane Iredale Tantasia Self Tanner - mini tube.  "A gradual self-tanner for the face and body that provides instant, healthy looking skin".  Might try this on my face as its quite a small tube.

Nailgirls - two mini polishes from the Medal Collection inspired by the Olympics - Gold, Silver or Bronze - I got Gold and Bronze.

Mini Joliebox branded pink toe separators.

After last month an extra has been added by Joliebox to apologise for the late arrival of boxes - a full size Davines Balm worth £17.40.

Did you get the box?  What are your thoughts on the contents?

Suti Organic Skincare

I recently picked up a couple of Suti skincare samples at Naturisimo. Suti is a new organic British brand - I think I want to try all the products available!

The Cleanse Facial Cleanser is the best I've ever used and it's currently top of my wishlist.  It has a slightly grainy texture and contains lime, lavender, mandarin and geranium essential oils as well as apricot kernal oil, sunflower oil and shea butter. Apply to damp skin, massage onto the face and remove with a warmed muslin cloth.  If you buy full size a muslin cloth is included.

My second sample is Rejuvenate Face Oil.  The essential oils used are neroli and tangerine as well as Rosehip Seed, Evening Primrose and Argan Oil.  Apply a few drops to your fingertips and massage into the skin after cleansing.

You can read the Suti story here.  I am keen to try these products full size.  I also want to try the Peppermint Water Facial Toner.  Have you tried any Suti products?

Pure Thoughts

The second company I discovered via Twitter is Pure Thoughts.  Leanne started making the products from her cottage home in the Derbyshire countryside in 2004.

The products are gorgeous! (I've since re-ordered)

Here's what I bought:

'Try Me' Fennel & Mint Soap and 'Try Me' Rosemary & Lime Soap (both 25g - £1.25 each) - they both smell amazing and I can't wait to use them.  'Try Me' Strawberry & Pink Clay Face Mask (single use sachet - £1.25) - this is gorgeous, comes as a powder and you mix it in a small bowl with some water and apply to the face, it smells lightly of strawberries - I've since bought the mask full size as it made my skin look so bright, clear and healthy looking.  I also got  'Try Me' Yoghurt & Green Clay Face Mask - not tried this one yet (no doubt I'll love it too!).

I think its a great idea to offer 'try me' sizes as it lets you see if you like a soap, mask or scrub before buying full size - believe me you will love them!

All products are free from SLS, parabens, artificial colours, fragrances and preservatives.  The products are made using oils, butters, clays, fruits and essential oils.  You can read more here.

I also received a free sachet sample of Tangerine & Jojoba Whipped Shea Butter (which I have also bought full size) with £1 off code.  Thanks Sarah  @ Sugarpuffish for recommending this amazing product.  It can be used as a face moisturiser, body moisturiser and lip treatment - I so love a multi-purpose product!

There are also some gorgeous  gift sets which you can see here.  Shipping is £2.95 - I'll definitely be buying some gift sets for presents.

Have you bought anything from Pure Thoughts before?

Lulu & Boo Organics

I've come across some amazing small businesses since signing up to Twitter. Over the next two posts I'll show you the products I bought from two of them.  The first one I discovered (I am sure there will be many more that I'll buy from) is Lulu & Boo Organics, an award winning organic skincare company which is certified by the Soil Association.

Claire Edmunds, founder of Lulu & Boo began experimenting with aromatherapy creating special blends for herself and decided to pursue a career in aromatherapy and Herbalism and Lula & Boo was created.

Lulu & Boo make luxury skin, body, baby care and mums-to-be products.  Made with certified Organic Essential Oils and active plant extracts.  The products have no parabens, petroleum, SLS, no harsh detergents or synthetic colourings and fragrances.

The packaging is so pretty - I'll definitely  be back to buy a few pressies.  Delivery is really quick too.  I bought Rose & Vanilla Soap (100g - £5.95).  It smells gorgeous.  Scented with Rose Otto, Rose Geranium, Palmarosa, Ylang Ylang and Vanilla with a base of shea and cocoa butter.  (we are currently getting a bathroom refit - this will be in use as soon as it is finished).

Included is a 5ml sample of Almond & Rosehip Face Cream - which smells good enough to eat!  Second class delivery is free for a limited time only.

Have you used anything from Lulu & Boo before?

Dermalogica Body Hydrating Cream

In 1986, Jane Wurwand, a UK Trained Skin Therapist who was living and working in America developed her own skin health range - Dermalogica.  Initially, the products were only available from Skin Therapy Professionals but now the products are widely available instore, from spas and online.

The packaging is quite plain but the products really effective.  Free from lanolin, alcohol, mineral oil, artificial colour and fragrance.

If you go for a Dermalogica facial the therapist will map your face and give you a skin care analysis where they will decode your skin zone by zone and suggest products which will suit your skin.

I picked up this product last November! - and I have just started using it.  A light cream with hydroxyl acids (sugar cane, apple and lactic acid) which slough off dead skin cells while you moisture - I love a multi-purpose product!  It's great for dry areas of skin and lightly scented.

For extra hydration and wellbeing add a pump of Stress Relief Treatment Oil (smells amazing) into the cream before applying to the skin.

I also love Daily Microfoliant and Treatment Foundation.  Do you use any Dermalogica products?

Latest in Beauty - YOU The Skincare Stars Box

I was trying very hard to resist the YOU The Skincare Stars Box from Latest in Beauty but when I saw other bloggers and friends on facebook receiving them I couldn't resist (I actually bought two oops).

It's fab!  Here are the contents:

A full size of Etat Pur Micellar Cleansing Water (190ml - £6.40).  I am loving this type of product at the moment so keen to try this out.  Latest in Beauty say "gentle cleanser for all skin types even the most sensitive - from a new brand that promises to exclude all chemical 'nasties' and use only 'pure' ingredients that have a 'perfect affinity' with your skin".

A 15ml of L'Occitane Angelica Hydration Cream - I already adore this having received it in my recent Joliebox.  It's meant for dry/normal skin but my combination skin loves it.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate (4ml) - I first tried this in December when I got it in the Selfridges Advent Calendar - I've been meaning to buy full size but not got round to it yet so delighted to try this gem again.

Melvita Moisturizing Rose Nectar (15ml) - For dry and dehydrated skin.  Will keep this one for the winter months.  Love the Melvita brand and this one smells amazing.

Balance Me Moisture Rich Face Cream (10ml) more suited to dry/normal skin.  Will give this cream a try (avoiding my oily t-zone) as love Balance Me as a brand.

Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser (30ml) - not tried much from Murad so looking forward to trying this out.

A great box again - great products and amazing value at £11.90 including P&P.  What do you think? Did you get it?

Blog Header

I just want to say a huge thank you to Steph at Bonjour Belle who created my gorgeous blog header for an amazing £3.  I love it.  Steph also offers full blog design - please see here for further details.

Balm Balm Rose Geranium Single Note 100% Organic EDP

I picked up a sample vial (2ml) of Balm Balm's Rose Geranium EDP (£1.50 with my recent Naturisimo order).  It's gorgeous, smells rosy and flowery and reminiscent of turkish delight.  100% organic, 100% natural and Soil Association approved.

There are seven single note scent in the range - bergamot - mandarin - ylang ylang - rose geranium - lavender - Spearmint and Petigrain.  At Balm Balm you can buy all seven in a mini set.  Tempted!

They contain gentle organic grain alcohol and pure essential oils.  They can be worn alone or combined.

Some suggestions - refreshing - bergamot & spearmint, romantic - rose geranium & lavender, outrageous - all seven!

Full size retails at £18 with free P&P at Naturisimo.  I'll definitely be purchasing it full size soon.  Have you tried any of the scents?
